Leading carbon capture and removal solutions provider, Svante Technologies Inc. (Svante) announced today that it has been awarded $1,350,000 by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to enhance the company’s testing capabilities on the durability of its filters for point source carbon capture.
The funding Svante is receiving from the Canadian Federal Government is a part of a larger investment in Canadian-made carbon management technologies, unveiled today by the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, at Svante’s Centre of Excellence for Carbon Capture and Removal in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Svante was founded in British Columbia in 2007 and has grown to employ nearly 300 people. Its primary business is in the manufacturing of nanoengineered filters that can remove CO2 from industrial flue gas at facilities such as pulp and paper, cement, steel, and energy.
In an NRCan press release, the government stated that “Projects like these support Canada’s ambitions of becoming a clean energy superpower — demonstrating how energy innovation can enhance energy security and unlock the full potential of our workers, businesses and resources. We are moving quickly to advance our position as a global supplier of secure, reliable and low-carbon energy and natural resources.”
